The Evolution of Television
Television
Television has adapted drastically over the past one hundred years. It started as a disk being projected onto a blank screen and is now essentially a large computer with gaming and streaming capabilities. Television is one of the fastest adapting methods of entertainment of all time. It has continued to adapt to keep up with modern demand and new technology.
Early Television
The first television was invented in 1927. It was electronic and invented by Philo Taylor Farnsworth. The first models of the television were adjusted and worked with until a solid electronic model was able to be produced fairly efficiently. In 1938, television sets were produced for public sale. They became popular almost immediately, and added improvements were continuously invented. As television sales rose, television stations and channels began to take off as well. Television slowly began to take over entertainment, and radios became less popular.

Modern Television
Television has continued to adapt relatively dramatically in our modern world. Streaming services have started to compete with cable television by owning the rights to popular shows and movies. Television has shifted from strictly cable to almost entirely streaming platforms and DVR. Competition among streaming services is threatening to raise the cost of viewing for consumers because different platforms have different shows and movies. Platforms like Netflix and Hulu have also started making shows that are original to that platform, so they automatically own the rights to the show if it does well. Some services are starting to offer "bundles" for a reduced price, but it is quickly becoming nearly as expensive as a cable service. On the other hand, streaming services are more popular because of their convenience. They offer immediate access to whatever show or movie you may want to see, and they can be accessed from mobile phones and laptops outside of your house.

Final Thoughts
I included television in my final project because I think that it is amazing how fast it has developed in the past one hundred years. Televisions used to be black and white with a couple of channels and they have developed into computers that have a wide range of capabilities. Television has also changed from channels on cable to streaming platforms with hundreds of movies and TV shows to choose from. I think that the television is a true example of how fast technology is capable of advancing.
